Future of voice search

  • INTRODUCTION
Voice search is set to play a crucial role in the future, especially given the current widespread
use of AI. Its application is expected to expand significantly on a massive scale. While AI tools
like Gemini and Alexa are currently used primarily by the educated—leaving the uneducated
unable to utilize them—the landscape has shifted rapidly; if we look back just a few years,
hardly anyone used these technologies, whereas today, the majority of people in our country
have started using AI to some extent. Although we cannot yet rely entirely on AI, the time will
come when humans become completely dependent on it.
    : ADVANTAGES
    1. Voice search is an excellent AI-driven feature that offers great physical convenience.
    2. While voice search is used globally, its adoption in India was initially limited; however, it is
now widely used at a high level. People are utilizing it effectively, and those with the relevant
knowledge are even generating income through it.
    3. Voice search allows us to save time and perform searches rapidly; the faster we can search,
the sooner we can access the information we need.
    4. This feature enables older family members—such as grandparents—to search for information
easily. Since formal education was not as widespread in the past, many grandparents may not
be literate or skilled at typing on mobile phones; this feature allows them to entertain themselves
independently without needing assistance from others.
    5. We can effectively utilize AI tools and gadgets; for instance, if a device is connected via
Bluetooth, it can perform tasks—like searching for information or setting alarms—based on our
voice commands, regardless of the distance. This helps save our precious time—something we
all value highly—ensuring that both current and future generations can make the most of this
technology. We are using it, but future generations will use it to the fullest extent.
    : DISADVANTAGES
There are several disadvantages to voice search; let us look at four of them:

1. **Privacy Concerns:** If people become overly dependent on it, their privacy could be at
risk. There is a common concern that conversations are being recorded, which could lead
to future problems.

2. **Impact on the Older Generation:** A significant issue arises when grandparents
become entirely dependent on this technology; they simply use the microphone option to
search for whatever they need. While the new generation uses it extensively, grandparents
often use it for entertainment. However, as the technology advances, its usage will become
universal.

3. **Impact on Children:** Children are increasingly relying on AI and spending a
disproportionate amount of time on their phones. For the sake of physical health, they
need to experience the outside world rather than staying indoors all the time. They should
step out, observe the environment, and experience it firsthand instead of remaining
completely dependent on technology.

4. **Promoting Laziness:** This feature can make people feel lazy, as they avoid typing
altogether. Instead of typing out a query—where errors might occur—they simply use the
microphone option. While the search results can be accurate, they can sometimes be
incorrect. Sometimes, it fails to fully grasp what we mean, leading it to show us something
other than what we intended to see. People have become entirely dependent on this
technology in their lives and want to avoid hard work; they simply want tasks completed
quickly. Consequently, more than half of India’s population is becoming lazy and
increasingly reliant on AI.

: CONCLUSION
voice search allows people to easily articulate and record their thoughts, while voice assistants
help save valuable time. Family members of all ages—whether young or old—can use the AI

assistant to ask questions or look up information, and they can also view whatever content they
wish to see
